Weddings in Aitutaki, Cook Islands

1. When is the best time to get married in Aitutaki?
Aitutaki offers perfect wedding conditions year-round. For vibrant frangipani flowers, visit between November and March. If you prefer cooler weather, plan your celebration during the May to October Gardenia Season. Temperatures range from 21–30°C in summer and 17–25°C in winter, with plenty of sunshine and occasional short tropical showers.

2. What makes Aitutaki Lagoon Private Island Resort unique for weddings?
It is the only private island resort in the Cook Islands with the only overwater bungalows. Wedding venues include the Oneroa Beach Chapel, Kuriri Point Gazebo, Sunset Beach, and Palm Tree Aisle—all set beside the World’s Most Beautiful Lagoon.

3. Can we have a private island wedding?
Yes. You can exchange vows on your own private beach, in the thatched Oneroa Beach Chapel, or under the palm-fringed Kuriri Point Gazebo. All locations offer uninterrupted lagoon views and complete privacy.

4. What time of day is best for the ceremony?
Late afternoon ceremonies capture stunning sunsets, while early afternoon offers brilliant blue skies. Ceremony slots are typically 10:30am, 1:00pm, 3:00pm, or 4:30pm.

5. How do we choose our wedding date?
The resort hosts only one wedding per day. Sundays and major public holidays are unavailable, and a minimum 5-night stay is required, with at least 3 working days before the wedding for legal processing.

6. How do we book our wedding?
Contact your Personal Wedding Planner to confirm dates and pay a deposit. Dates can be held for 2 weeks while you arrange travel. Full payment is due 90 days before arrival.

7. Can we bring guests to our Aitutaki wedding?
Yes—whether it’s just the two of you or up to 60+ guests, the resort offers a range of accommodation and venue options for groups.

8. What are the legal requirements for getting married in the Cook Islands?
You must apply in person for a Marriage Licence at least 3 working days before the wedding. Bring passports, birth certificates, and relevant divorce or death certificates (with English translations if necessary).

9. Who can officiate our wedding?
Choose between a non-religious celebrant or an ordained minister. Catholic beach weddings are also available.

10. What wedding services does the resort offer?
Services include a personal wedding planner, day spa treatments, catering, decoration, photography recommendations, and exclusive reception venues such as Sunset Beach, Oneroa Beach Pavilion, and the Flying Boat Beach Bar & Grill.

11. What reception options are available?
Enjoy a private candlelit dinner on the beach, host a reception in the Oneroa Beach Pavilion, or celebrate with lagoon views at the Flying Boat Beach Bar & Grill.

12. Why choose Aitutaki Lagoon Private Island Resort for our wedding?
It offers unmatched exclusivity, spectacular lagoon views, world-class venues, and the only overwater bungalows in the Cook Islands. Voted among the Top 25 Resorts in the South Pacific by Conde Nast Traveler readers, it’s the ultimate romantic wedding destination.
